Mission

The Federation’s mission is to raise interest specifically among the young people of Québec to get involved in dancesport, to provide its members with an environment conducive to the practice of their passion, and to organize dancesport events that are paradigms of quality and integrity. Finally, its main mandate is to represent and protect the interests of its members.

Vision

DanseSport Québec wants to make dancesport a way of life and a major sport that people of all ages can practice on both a recreational and competitive level throughout Québec.

Values

DSQ firmly believes that realizing its mission and vision begins with applying values and principles that are intrinsic to the practice of dancesport. Therefore, DSQ ensures that the following values are reflected in all its services and activities: respect for others, courtesy, integrity and mutual aid. Harmonious and transparent communication is an indispensable condition for adhering to these values.

GOALS FOR THE 2022-2023 SEASON 

  • Organize activities as part of the 50th anniversary of the federation
  • Launch DSQ’s new image
  • Organize competitions to focus on introducing young dancers to events of a competitive nature
  • Carry out a fundraising campaign for DanseSport Québec’s projects and activities with the help of the MEQ’s Placements Sports et Loisirs program
  • Relaunch our “So… WE DANCE?” program and offer it in all disciplines:
    • Extracurricular
    • Primary school program
    • Related activities:
      • Introductory courses in schools in partnership with sports entities in the regions of Quebec (e.g. Sports Laval)
      • Day camps
      • Sports caravans
      • Open house activities
    • Prepare a questionnaire to follow up with parents and schools after the “So…WE DANCE?” activities to assess the level of satisfaction with the aim of improving the program
  • Increase the number of members in dancesport in all disciplines by promoting the advantages of being a member of DanseSport Québec
  • Establish a marketing and communication plan to promote an effective exchange and information network for its members and non-members
  • Improve our means of communication on social networks, the DSQ website as well as sending information via email

    • Sanction competitions in all dancesport disciplines
      • Hit the Floor Lévis – May 19 to 22, 2022
      • Hit the Floor Gatineau – June 10 to 13, 2022
    • Develop partnerships with Quebec schools in order to set up Sport-Études or concentration programs in dancesport
    • Find sponsors for athletes and the federation
    • Help and support members in their search for funding for activities related to dancesport in accordance with the activities offered by the WDSF or its local organizations:
      • Curriculum preparation
      • Help in the search for grants for high performance athletes
    • Applying for grants for the organization
    • Organize a training day for coaches and instructors
    • Update our sports regulations for international dancesport
    • Update our website to include the sports regulations for the other disciplines: Breaking and Performance Arts
    • Promote the Integrity protection policy, rules and procedures
    • Update the Code of governance (Code de gouvernance) according to the MEQ’s requirements
