The Federation’s mission is to raise interest specifically amongst the young people of Québec to get them involved in dancesport, to provide its members with an environment conducive to the practice of their passion, and to organize events related to dancesport that are shining examples of quality and integrity. Finally, its main mandate is to represent and defend the interests of its members. The Federation has high-level athletes, but virtually no services to help them develop. Minimal support exists to allow them to participate in competitions but since DSQ is not being funded by the MEES, it can neither obtain support from the regional multisport training centres nor identify its athletes so that they receive the grants available from the various centres and the Ministry. However, the development of after-school and curriculum-based programs is underway. The table below illustrates the type of service.
